Derrick Gates - Vice-Chair

God, Family, and Country Man | Political Leader | Entrepreneur | Media Voice

Derrick Gates is a God, Family, and Country man, proudly married for nearly 26 years to his wife, Nena, and father to three daughters and one son, as well as grandfather to two grandsons. He is a political leader, entrepreneur, and media voice with a proven track record in business, communications, and public service.

Derrick currently serves as Vice President of the California Republican Assembly’s Executive Board, where he also holds the roles of State Chaplain and Faith Engagement Chair. Locally, he serves the CRA South Bay Chapter as Parliamentarian, alongside his wife, Nena, who serves as Chapter President. He also proudly serves the LAGOP as Vice Chair of the 66th Assembly District Republican Central Committee. In the 2024 presidential election cycle, he was elected to this position with more votes than any of the other 165 candidates running in Los Angeles County — an honor he received with humility, grateful for the trust placed in him to accomplish his mission.

In addition to his leadership roles, Derrick ran against Ted Lieu for California’s 36th Congressional District in 2022. From 2020 to 2023, he led the fight for vaccine choice in California, rallying thousands at events across the state, including 10,000 at the State Capitol and nearly 30,000 at Los Angeles City Hall. Through hundreds of events, Derrick developed a popular political voice recognized not only in California but nationwide. Today, he speaks across the country at campaigns, events, and rallies and serves as a spiritual adviser to top-level politicians — as he often says, “from the Church house to the White House.”


Derrick also works directly with political candidates, helping them master branding, design, social media, commercials, debates, messaging, and overall campaign strategy. His background as a Fortune 500 corporate mediator gives him a unique edge in communication and leadership development, which he now applies to building effective campaigns and preparing candidates for success.


Beyond politics, Derrick is a successful entrepreneur who owns and operates multiple businesses, including Ox Financial Services, Gatekeeper Films, Gates Media Studios, and a clothing line that designs, prints, and manufactures its merchandise locally in the South Bay. His diverse portfolio reflects his commitment to innovation, local business development, and creative excellence.


Known for his clear communication, results-driven leadership, and nationwide influence, Derrick continues to advance initiatives that promote economic opportunity, civic involvement, and a stronger America.

Tom Brewer - Treasurer

A lifelong community volunteer, Tom Brewer’s dedication to public service led to his election to the Torrance City Council, where he served two terms. Following his council service, he continued his volunteer work, including supporting former State Assembly Member David Hadley during his term.

Tom currently serves as Treasurer of the 66th Assembly District Republican Central Committee. His extensive experience
and deep community commitment make him a valued leader and advocate for the district.

whether professional, community, or personal.

Frank Scotto

Frank served three years on the Torrance Civil Service Commission before being elected to the Torrance City Council in March 2000, finishing as the top vote-getter among 13 candidates. He was re-elected without contest in 2004 and went on to serve multiple terms as Mayor Pro Tem.

During his time on the council, he chaired and served on numerous committees, including Transportation, Finance and Governmental Operations, Veterans Memorial, Youth Task Force, Armed Forces Day Parade, and Arts in Public Places. His leadership also extended to regional boards such as the Municipal Area Express.

In 2006, he was elected Mayor of Torrance and re-elected in 2010. Most recently, in 2024, he was elected to represent California’s 66th Assembly District.

He and his wife, Cindy, have been married for 57 years and are proud parents of two children and grandparents of five.

Martha Logan

Born and raised in the Midwest, Martha Logan graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Art Education. She taught art in South Dakota before moving to California to pursue a career in graphic design. Martha served as Art Director for Teleflora and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center before launching her own graphics business.


A dedicated community leader, she served seven years as President of Manhattan Beach Republican Women and has been an active member of the 66th Assembly District Republican Central Committee for the past eight years. Martha brings her creative talents and commitment to the Committee’s work, and looks forward to continuing her service in the next term.

Dr. Harry Ward, M.D.

Dr. Harry Ward served over 30 years as Professor of Medicine and Chief at UCLA’s Geffen School of Medicine, while simultaneously completing 32 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring at the rank of Captain. His military service included active-duty tours in the Persian Gulf War and Afghanistan.


Following his Afghanistan deployment in 2007, Dr. Ward was appointed Chief of Medicine at two Veterans Affairs hospitals on the East Coast. He later returned to California, where he continues to contribute as a military, research, and political consultant.


Today, he also serves as an elected member of the Republican AD66 Central Committee. Dr. Ward and his wife, Amy, are proud parents of five children and grandparents to eight.

George Barks is the former Mayor of the City of Hermosa Beach, a small business owner, and a proud U.S. Army veteran.


Committed to public service, George ran for California’s 66th Assembly District in both 2022 and 2024, representing the South Bay cities. Drawing on years of leadership in local government and the private sector, he is dedicated to strengthening communities, promoting responsible governance, and upholding the values of service, integrity, and civic engagement.

Rick Marshall - Ex-Officio

Rick Marshall is a dedicated public servant and lifelong Republican committed to protecting taxpayers and promoting responsible governance. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of the California Taxpayers Action Network, where he works to save tax dollars by exposing waste and corruption in government spending.


Rick has also served as Vice-Chair of the Water Commission, helping to increase local water supply and lower costs, and as Chairman of the Planning Commission, consistently advocating for sensible development. He holds a degree in Business Administration.


For 25 years, Rick and his wife Janice have called Torrance home, raising two daughters—one a ballerina, the other a writer for the New York Post. His dedication to public service and the community has made him a trusted leader and advocate for the residents of the 66th Assembly District.

Steve Williams - Ex-Officio

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Steve Williams is a USC-educated former tech professional who transitioned into a successful career as a Southern California real estate expert. A dedicated grassroots advocate and proud father of three, Steve has built a reputation for bringing common-sense solutions and community-first leadership to the forefront.


Steve ran for Congress in 2022 against Ted Lieu and again in 2024 challenging Maxine Waters, demonstrating his commitment to giving Californians a strong, principled voice in Washington.


As a California GOP delegate, an executive board member of the L.A. County GOP, and a contributor to RedState.com, Steve combines professional experience with a passion for public service. He champions policies that prioritize public safety, strengthen economic freedom, and demand accountability in government—always with the goal of building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous California.
